CHINA RESOURCES MICROELECTRONICS LTD. CSMC
HKSTP

CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT
The design vision was to create a workplace that balances functionality, corporate branding, and technological identity. Minimalist aesthetics in white and grey tones were complemented by sharp branding highlights in orange, aligning with China Resources’ corporate identity. The office was envisioned as a hub for semiconductor operations, representing innovation, clarity, and cross-border collaboration.
SPATIAL STRATEGY / PLANNING LOGIC
The planning emphasized efficient circulation between workstations, conference zones, and support facilities. Open-plan desk layouts foster teamwork, while enclosed meeting rooms ensure privacy and focus. Storage cabinets, filing systems, and mobile stations were carefully integrated to support technicians and staff who frequently travel between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

MATERIALITY & DETAILING
The interior palette features neutral greys, glass partitions, and clean white surfaces, projecting a high-tech yet professional atmosphere.
Branding details, including the corporate signage wall and reception desk with illuminated fins, enhance the arrival experience. Smart building upgrades—such as advanced lift systems, HVAC, and environmental control—were integrated seamlessly to reflect Science Park’s “smart office” ethos

COLLABORATION & CONSTRAINTS
The project involved coordination with Science Park’s new-generation towers (17W & 19W), which provided upgraded building intelligence systems compared with earlier phases. The design had to align with strict technical requirements, balancing practical needs for technicians’ mobility with corporate branding demands. Despite the tight timeline, the project was completed smoothly in 2019, ensuring it was ready for operational use.
PROJECT GOALS & OUTCOMES
The new office not only consolidated operations in Hong Kong but also strengthened CSMC’s role as part of China Resources Microelectronics’ global semiconductor strategy. The project delivered a functional, modern, and brand-aligned workspace that supports operational efficiency and symbolizes the company’s technological leadership.
