Located in the heart of Central, Hong Kong, SWISSCOAT Vision Centre reimagines the traditional optical store with a futuristic and luminous identity. The two-level design contrasts a cyber-inspired façade — defined by sculpted white acrylic and vibrant LED lighting — with an upper-level interior of warmth and refinement, featuring oak finishes and soft ambient tones.
The space blends precision engineering with lifestyle comfort, reflecting the brand’s expertise in advanced lens technology and personalized eyecare service. The result is a visually striking and technologically expressive environment that elevates both brand presence and customer experience.

CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT
The design aimed to redefine the traditional optical retail experience through a futuristic and immersive environment that visually communicates precision, technology, and trust. The storefront acts as a sculptural beacon — a symbolic “lens portal” that captures the essence of optical science, using bold geometry and light to create a cyber-inspired brand statement visible from the street.
SPATIAL STRATEGY
The shop spans two distinct design zones across different levels:
The ground floor serves as the brand’s primary façade and retail showcase, designed with crisp angular geometry, integrated LED edges, and a white sculptural façade that echoes the curvature of eyewear lenses.
The upper floor provides a warmer, tactile environment emphasizing craftsmanship and customer experience. Natural textures balance the technological aesthetic of the lower level, creating a cohesive journey from product discovery to personalized eye care.

MATERIALITY & DETAILING
The design contrasts hi-tech illumination and precise geometry with organic warmth:
Ground floor: bright white finishes, LED light-rings, acrylic panels, and mirror-lined walls amplify spatial depth.
Upper floor: light oak millwork, matte stone textures, and custom metal signage deliver refinement and tactility.
This duality highlights Swisscoat’s technological innovation while grounding the space in approachable luxury.

PROJECT GOALS & OUTCOMES
The project successfully transformed a narrow two-storey street shop into a visually iconic and highly functional optical centre. The exterior’s futuristic light geometry became an urban landmark, while the interior’s layered lighting effects and smart zoning elevated the customer’s retail and diagnostic journey. The design reinforced Swisscoat’s image as a leader in advanced lens technology and eye care services.
COLLABORATION & CONSTRAINTS
Working within Central’s tight urban footprint required precision coordination of façade geometry, lighting installation, and service integration. The custom-fabricated façade and lighting systems were developed through close collaboration between designers, fabricators, and lighting consultants to achieve exacting tolerances and visual clarity within strict site limitations.
