ADEL’s Hong Kong office was conceived as a showcase for the brand’s leadership in smart lock technologies, integrating operations, IT support, and exhibition facilities under one roof. The design prioritizes transparency and connectivity, with open glass partitions and clear sightlines reinforcing the company’s focus on advanced digital security solutions.

The aesthetic blends industrial and cyber-inspired elements: grey cement-tone flooring, exposed ceilings in soft industrial grey, and accent lighting against a deep indigo backdrop. Custom patterns on glass panels introduce a subtle binary/cyber motif, further emphasizing the high-tech brand identity.

The office not only serves as an operational hub but also functions as a live showroom, where electronic locks, smart access systems, and integrated digital displays are demonstrated to clients. This dual-purpose design highlights both functionality and brand storytelling, positioning ADEL as a forward-looking leader in the Chinese smart lock industry.

CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT

The vision for ADEL’s Hong Kong office was to create a space that communicates the brand’s leadership in smart lock technologies while balancing operational efficiency with a contemporary, enduring aesthetic. Transparency and openness guided the design direction, reflecting the company’s values of security and innovation. The intent was to craft an environment that feels modern, cyber-inspired, and technology-driven—reinforcing ADEL’s identity as a pioneer in electronic lock systems.

SPATIAL STRATEGY / PLANNING LOGIC

The planning emphasized circulation clarity and spatial transparency. Glass partitions and open layouts allow sightlines to remain unobstructed across the office, supporting collaboration while ensuring security. Dedicated zones include:

  • Operations Office for day-to-day functions.

  • IT Support Area serves as a technical backbone.

  • Showroom and Exhibition Spaces showcasing ADEL’s latest electronic lock products.

  • Conference and Collaboration Rooms are enclosed in glass to maintain openness while enabling privacy.

This zoning strategy ensures efficiency, easy navigation, and adaptability to future functional needs.

MATERIALITY & DETAILING

The palette combines light and industrial finishes to achieve a balanced aesthetic.

Flooring: Grey cement-tone vinyl flooring, evoking raw industrial strength while remaining durable and easy to maintain.
Ceilings: Exposed piping and ductwork in industrial grey, celebrating a modern, loft-inspired style.
Walls & Glass: Full-height glass panels with patterned, cyber-inspired motifs that subtly reference digital coding and technology.
Accents: Light wood elements and strategic lighting, including LED highlights, add warmth and contrast against the bold indigo brand color.
The material strategy conveys a sense of innovation and durability while reinforcing the cyber-aesthetic central to ADEL’s brand.

PROJECT GOALS & OUTCOMES

The office was delivered on schedule within 3 months, achieving the client’s operational and branding requirements. Key outcomes include:

  • A dual-purpose environment that serves as both a workplace and a live showroom for smart lock demonstrations.

  • Intense client satisfaction is achieved as the design embodies ADEL’s brand identity—innovative, high-tech, and forward-thinking.

  • Enhanced employee collaboration and workflow efficiency through transparent layouts and shared zones.

The completed environment reflects ADEL’s ambition to lead in the global smart lock industry while providing a comfortable and future-ready workplace.

COLLABORATION & CONSTRAINTS

This project required close coordination with ADEL’s internal teams to ensure that the space could support both operational functions and high-quality product showcases.

  • Constraints: Working within an industrial building setting required creative solutions to conceal and integrate building services while maintaining the desired clean, modern aesthetic.

  • Resolutions: The use of exposed ceilings finished in uniform grey turned infrastructure into a design feature. Digital patterns on glass provided privacy without sacrificing openness.

  • Key Partners: Collaboration between the design team, contractors, and ADEL’s technology specialists ensured the space met technical requirements for smart lock installations and live demonstrations.

The result is a coherent, branded environment that overcame site challenges to deliver a high-impact, functional workspace.
