CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT
The project reimagines a compact sandwich kiosk inside the City University of Hong Kong campus. The goal was to refresh the existing Grove kiosk, originally dated and visually cluttered, into a clean, youthful, and dynamic food station.
The design merges Grove’s signature clean minimalism with playful pastel tones and curved ceiling graphics, reflecting both freshness and approachability suitable for a student community environment. The concept embraces fluid geometry — seen in the soft gradients, wavy ceiling patterns, and the pink neon signage that glows “CITYUHK MILK & ICE CREAM” and “COFFEE CART”.
SPATIAL STRATEGY
The layout adopts an open-front serving counter for smooth service flow and direct visibility, enhancing the kiosk’s presence within a high-traffic student corridor.
The space efficiently integrates service, display, and dine-in zones within limited square footage. Seating areas are compact yet inviting, featuring lightweight high tables and stools that encourage casual, short-term interaction. Visibility and circulation are carefully considered to manage heavy pedestrian movement.
