Part of the same restaurant group as Superdon, Chiu Ball is a compact yet refined noodle eatery specializing in authentic Teochew-style beef balls. The interior merges modern simplicity with nostalgic Hong Kong elements, featuring teal metal framing, white brick walls, and patterned floor tiles. Warm lighting, wooden stools, and copper detailing bring an approachable yet polished ambiance.
Despite its modest scale, the space reflects a clear design intention — to reinterpret the character of traditional local noodle shops through contemporary craftsmanship and visual clarity. The result is a cozy, efficient environment that feels both familiar and new, echoing the brand’s culinary philosophy: heritage with modern precision.

CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT
The design for Chiu Ball captures the essence of Teochew noodle culture — approachable, honest, and detail-oriented — while translating it into a modern urban dining experience. The aim was to create a space that feels nostalgic yet refined, echoing the craftsmanship behind each handmade beef ball and noodle served.
SPATIAL STRATEGY / PLANNING LOGIC
Given the compact 1,000 sqft footprint, the layout emphasizes clarity, flow, and social interaction. A central long communal table serves as both a spatial anchor and a visual statement, encouraging casual dining and community. Along the perimeter, bench seating and bar counters optimize the narrow floor plate, maintaining clear circulation from entry to service counter.

MATERIALITY & DETAILING
The palette strikes a balance between heritage warmth and contemporary simplicity.
White brick tiles with a green accent line evoke the nostalgia of old Hong Kong eateries, while encaustic patterned tiles introduce a regional charm at the entrance. The mix of brass, solid timber, and PU leather softens the industrial tones of the open ceiling and metal lighting fixtures, achieving a cohesive modern-retro balance.
