When an optical lens brand presents itself at a professional trade fair, the space should do more than display products — it should communicate technology, clarity, precision and brand confidence.

Enoch Deco was appointed by Swisscoat to design and set up its exhibition booth at an optical fair held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Swisscoat is a company specialising in optical lenses and related eyewear products. The brand has maintained a long-term working relationship with Enoch Deco, and this exhibition project formed part of Swisscoat’s broader brand development and market promotion at the time.
Rather than treating the booth as a standard trade fair display, the design was developed as a branded optical showcase.
The central design theme was light.
Optical lenses are directly connected to light — how light passes through a lens, how it reflects, refracts, filters colour and enhances visual clarity. The booth design therefore used light, colour, reflection and transparency as key visual tools, turning the technical nature of the product into a spatial experience.
The overall direction was intentionally more futuristic.
Swisscoat wanted a booth that could express a stronger sense of technology and innovation. To achieve this, the design introduced dynamic colour effects, illuminated elements, reflective surfaces and a contemporary exhibition language that echoed the qualities of the lens products themselves.
The booth was also designed to align with Swisscoat’s corporate identity.
The colours, lighting effects and overall visual impression were developed to connect with the brand’s existing retail image and design direction, creating a coherent relationship between the exhibition environment and Swisscoat’s wider brand presence.
The completed booth became an important brand presentation platform for Swisscoat. It helped the company stand out within the exhibition venue and present its optical products with a stronger sense of technology, precision and visual identity.

CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT

The design objective was to translate Swisscoat’s optical technology and brand identity into an exhibition space that could be seen, understood and remembered within a busy trade fair environment.

The core of Swisscoat’s business is optical lenses.

A lens is not only a transparent product. It is closely related to light, colour, visual clarity, protection, precision manufacturing and technical performance. For this reason, the exhibition booth needed to respond not only to eyewear as a product category, but also to the deeper idea of optical technology.

The design used light as the main narrative.

Through layered colour, illuminated features, reflective effects and visual depth, the booth expressed the relationship between lenses and light. These effects were not used purely as decoration; they were developed as a spatial interpretation of the product itself.

The design direction was more forward-looking than a conventional optical exhibition booth.

Rather than relying only on standard display cabinets, posters and lightboxes, the Swisscoat booth aimed to create a stronger technology-driven image. It needed to attract visitors from a distance, while also allowing them to view the products clearly at close range.

Colour also played an important role.

Optical lenses respond to light, angle and colour in subtle ways. The booth therefore used colour effects to echo the visual qualities of lenses and to create a more memorable exhibition identity.

At the same time, the design remained connected to Swisscoat’s corporate image.

The booth’s colour palette, lighting expression and overall outlook were aligned with the brand’s existing retail identity, allowing the exhibition space to become an extension of the brand rather than a temporary standalone display.

The overall design concept can be described as:

A futuristic optical showcase built around light, colour, lens technology and brand identity.

SPATIAL STRATEGY / PLANNING LOGIC

Within a 400 sq.ft. exhibition booth, the spatial strategy needed to balance brand visibility, product display, visitor flow and business interaction.

Swisscoat’s booth adopted an open showcase layout.

This approach was suitable for a fast-moving exhibition environment, where visitors pass multiple booths within a short period of time. The booth therefore needed to be visually clear, easy to approach and strong enough to create an immediate impression.

The open layout helped reduce the distance between the brand and visitors.

Rather than enclosing the booth, the design allowed visitors to see the brand content and product displays from different angles. This made the space more inviting and encouraged people to stop, enter and engage with the booth.

Product display areas were kept clear and readable.

Optical lenses are small, delicate and visually subtle. If the surrounding environment becomes too visually complicated, the products can easily be lost. The design therefore needed to balance visual impact with product clarity.

Lighting and colour were used to create recognition.

In a large exhibition venue, every brand competes for attention. Swisscoat’s booth used illuminated elements, colour layering and a technology-inspired appearance to create a stronger visual presence.

The space also needed to support commercial communication.

An exhibition booth is not only for display; it is also a place for clients, distributors, industry professionals and brand representatives to meet and talk. The booth therefore needed to provide a clear setting for product introduction, brand communication and business discussion.

The overall planning value was in transforming a compact 400 sq.ft. booth into a functional brand platform that could support product display, visitor engagement and industry networking.

MATERIALITY & DETAILING

The material and visual strategy was built around light, colour, reflection and technology, allowing the booth to become an extension of Swisscoat’s optical lens products.

The material and visual language of the Swisscoat booth was closely connected to the nature of optical products.
Because lenses are inseparable from light, the booth used lighting, colour, reflective surfaces and transparency-inspired details as part of the design narrative.
Light Effects
Light was the key design medium of the booth.
Through illuminated display features, backlit elements and focused lighting, the space created a stronger sense of technology and visual clarity. This directly reflected Swisscoat’s connection to optical performance and lens technology.
Colour Layering
Colour was used to express the way lenses interact with light and visual perception.
Layered colour effects gave the booth a more dynamic and futuristic character, allowing the brand to appear more advanced and memorable within the exhibition setting.
Reflection and Transparency
Optical lenses carry qualities of transparency, reflection and refraction.
The design translated these qualities into spatial expression through reflective surfaces, illuminated display layers and a cleaner visual composition.
Brand Feature Wall
The brand feature wall provided a clear visual anchor.
Within an exhibition venue, brand name, logo, corporate colour and key visual messages must be immediately identifiable. The feature wall helped establish Swisscoat’s presence and provided a strong backdrop for product display and business conversations.
Product Display Cabinets
The display cabinets were designed to present optical products clearly.
Because lens products are delicate and detail-driven, the display lighting, background and viewing angles needed to be carefully controlled. The aim was to make the products visible without allowing the lighting effects to overpower them.
Technology-Driven Booth Façade
The booth façade was designed to create high visibility.
Through a more futuristic form language, lighting and colour coordination, the Swisscoat booth was able to stand out within the exhibition hall and attract attention from passing visitors.
The overall material strategy was not about decoration for its own sake.
It was about using the characteristics of optical products — light, colour, reflection and precision — as the foundation of the exhibition design.

PROJECT GOALS & OUTCOMES

The completed Swisscoat booth successfully used light, colour and optical technology to create a stronger brand presence and became an important milestone in Swisscoat’s brand promotion journey.

The main objective of the project was to create a distinctive and technology-driven exhibition space for Swisscoat at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The booth needed to support product display, brand communication and industry engagement. It also needed to express Swisscoat’s identity as an optical lens company with a focus on precision, technology and visual performance.

The completed booth used light, colour, brand graphics, product display and an open layout to make Swisscoat more visible within the exhibition hall.

For Swisscoat, the booth was more than an exhibition setup. It was part of a broader brand-building effort, helping the company present its lens products in a more professional, futuristic and memorable way.

For visitors, the booth provided a direct visual expression of what Swisscoat represented: optical technology, clarity, colour, precision and innovation.

For Enoch Deco, the project became a successful example of exhibition showcase design, reflecting our ability to work closely with a long-term client and translate brand ambition into a spatial experience.

The completed Swisscoat booth was not simply a 400 sq.ft. exhibition space.

It was a branded optical showcase — one that helped Swisscoat appear more visible, more professional and more future-facing within the market.

COLLABORATION & CONSTRAINTS

The main challenge was to deliver a visually memorable, technology-driven booth within a short exhibition timeline, while supporting Swisscoat’s wider brand promotion objectives.

Swisscoat had been working with Enoch Deco for many years.

This long-term relationship allowed the design team to understand the brand’s direction, visual expectations and corporate identity more clearly. As a result, the exhibition booth was not treated as an isolated project, but as part of Swisscoat’s continuing brand development.

At the time, Swisscoat was investing significant resources into brand promotion and market positioning.

The exhibition therefore carried an important role. It needed to present the company as professional, advanced and visually distinctive within a competitive trade fair environment.

Another key challenge was the short exhibition schedule.

The project was completed within approximately 0.5 month. Exhibition booths often require a compressed process, including design development, material preparation, fabrication, logistics, installation and final on-site adjustment.

This required the design to be both creative and practical.

A booth can only succeed if the design can be built efficiently, transported safely and installed within the available venue schedule. The team therefore had to balance visual ambition with construction feasibility.

The booth also needed to align with Swisscoat’s existing retail identity.

Its lighting, colours, technology-driven expression and overall appearance had to feel consistent with the brand’s wider image. This ensured that the exhibition environment supported, rather than distracted from, Swisscoat’s long-term brand positioning.

The completed project demonstrates Enoch Deco’s ability to deliver exhibition design not only as temporary construction, but as a meaningful brand communication tool.
