Set within the heritage-listed Pedder Arcade, The Whisky Library blends old-world charm with refined, contemporary design. Inspired by traditional reading rooms, the interior offers an intimate, gallery-like environment where whisky is displayed and experienced like rare literature.
A central tasting island anchors the space, surrounded by custom-curved shelving and warm oak paneling, paired with brushed metal details and whisky-toned carpeting. Thoughtfully integrated lighting enhances product visibility while creating an inviting glow.
The project was delivered on time despite complex site constraints, including heritage restrictions and high-end retail neighbours. Enochdeco worked closely with Collective Studio to bring the technical design to life with precision and care. This marks the second successful collaboration with The Whisky Library and Collective Studio, reinforcing a shared commitment to craftsmanship, storytelling, and elevated retail experiences. At Pedder Arcade, whisky is not just sold—it’s celebrated.

CONCEPT & DESIGN INTENT
Nestled within the heritage walls of Pedder Arcade, this whisky retail and tasting space reimagines the spirit of discovery through its architectural design. The brief was to create a refined, immersive environment where rare whiskies could be browsed, appreciated, and discussed—like a library of spirits. Inspired by traditional reading rooms and collectors’ salons, the interior blends warm materiality with crisp geometry and atmospheric lighting.
SPATIAL STRATEGY / PLANNING LOGIC
A rhythmic arcade of arched glazing provides a strong visual draw into the space, projecting a rich, amber glow into the corridor. Internally, the layout flows naturally around a central tasting island, flanked by gently curved shelving walls that both maximize visibility and create an enveloping sense of intimacy. Staff areas and service zones are discreetly tucked behind the central display axis, allowing for seamless interaction with guests.

MATERIALITY & DETAILING
Natural oak paneling envelopes the space in warmth, counterbalanced by brushed metal counters and shelving that evoke precision and craftsmanship.
A continuous band of LED-lit shelving enhances label legibility and creates depth. Whisky-toned carpeting softens acoustics while introducing a tactile comfort. Rounded detailing and tailored fixtures lend a gallery-like serenity to the space.

PROJECT GOALS & OUTCOMES
The project was completed on schedule and has become a celebrated example of architectural branding, delivering a high-end, sensorial retail destination that reinforces The Whisky Library’s cultural position. The seamless collaboration between Collective Studio and Enochdeco ensured both design fidelity and construction precision.
COLLABORATION & CONSTRAINTS
Situated in a heritage-listed location within Hong Kong’s most prestigious retail zone, the project faced tight physical and regulatory constraints. From early-stage coordination with building management to stringent control of noise and dust during construction, every step required meticulous planning.
Collective Studio’s design featured an ambitious material and detailing palette, including custom-curved metalwork and integrated lighting, making execution highly technical. Special thanks go to Jay and his team for their clarity and professionalism, which enabled smooth yet demanding site implementation.
Despite logistical hurdles, including after-hours delivery coordination and sensitive neighbouring tenants, the build was completed to a high standard, on time, and with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
